My World, My Work
Profile

Charlie Scales has appeared in several theatre productions. You may have seen him as Lefou in Beauty and the Beast, Mr. Paravicini in The Mousetrap, or Mr. Snellgrave in One Flea Spare, to name a few. Charlie has a unique aptitude for improvisation and has been a founding member of the Laughing Lions Improv Troupe at Shelby High School. He may explore the possibility of resurrecting the improv troupe at Lees-McRae College. A versatile actor, Charlie has undertaken various roles from comedic to dramatic and has performed large roles in musicals. He has also spent some time in the director’s chair, directing the Shelby High School Christmas Extravaganza. He found this work to be very fulfilling and will likely explore directing more fully soon. Charlie has a great interest in education, particularly theatre education. In the future, he will work toward a master’s degree in education to allow him to be licensed as a high school theatre teacher, but also allows him the flexibility to pursue higher education pedagogy. In the summer of 2019, Charlie volunteered as a counselor at the Kathy Bergen Children’s Theatre where he worked with elementary and middle school children to improve their acting and singing skills and helped them perform Seussical, Jr. Charlie is studying Theatre Arts at Lees-McRae College and will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Theatre Arts in 2024. Originally from Tennessee, Charlie has lived in North Carolina for the past few years.
